Greetings Friends and Family,
I just returned from a fantastic and wonderfully-blessed week at
Hartland Campmeeting in Virginia. It was an AWESOME and awe-inspiring week
with very
timely messages for these urgent times in which we live. Time is
short, Brothers and Sisters, and we haven't a moment to lose to
prepare our own hearts for the second coming and we cannot waste ONE
MOMENT in getting this message of the Gospel spread to the precious
souls around the world who are so in need of a loving Savior.
I wanted to ask you and your friends and church families to have
special prayer for a Korean young man at the college. He has been a
student there for several years. We ate Sabbath lunch with Dr. Standish and
his
family and this young man was there also. They told us that he was
leaving the school this week to go back to Korea. Apparently all
Korean men are required to serve at least 2 yrs in the military and
his time has apparently come. But because of his faith, he will
refuse to serve. Their military is not like it was here in the US
when we had the draft, where Conscientious Objectors could select to
be medics when they were drafted. You don't get a choice over there
in Korea. So he is being sent back to his country to be sent
immediately to prison for about 2 yrs because he refuses to serve.
The young man doesn't speak englisch very good, but he was amazingly
calm and peaceful about it and managed to say to us....."it's not so
bad now. People tell me they don't beat you any more at least."
(!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) Prison there is NOT like prison HERE~!!!!
We were so struck and immediately chastised in our hearts. We
immediately said to each other that we would NEVER complain about
anything again after we saw what this young man was facing~!!!!!!!
Our hearts just went out for him. We had special prayer for him and
assured him that we would continue to pray for him during this
horrible time for him. He will send an address to the college once
he knows where he will be sent, so we are going to try to send him
letters of encouragement and care packages as often as we can, if
they don't confiscate it from him. If you like, I will send you his
address once we have it, so you can share it with your own church
family and friends, if they would like to be involved in sending
encouragement and prayers of support to this young man. Just
absolutely amazing and heart-wrenching.
This just reminded me of what we will ALL be called to face sometime
in our lives to stand firm for our faith at all costs. A very harsh
and stark reminder of our high calling. PLEASE pray for this
precious young man and his family, who are likely to be extremely
worried about him. And pray that he will be a mighty witness and
minister for his faith to his fellow prisoners.
Blessings and Love to All and Be Strong in the Faith, =)
Kimberly
